Cycle for Carers makes target

Cycle for Carers makes target

Cycle for Carers montage

One thing that the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us is the generosity of the British public during a time of worry and uncertainty.

Just last week the nation celebrated the 100th birthday of 'Colonel' Tom Moore after he well and truly smashed his £1000 target by raising over £32 million (and counting) for NHS Charities Together!!

There have been a number of other fundraisers set up to raise money for a whole host of charities and being able to see the pulling together of a nation at this particularly difficult time is amazing.

Cycle for Carers was thought up after four of our Cycle Law Scotland team were nominated to run 5km for Run for Heroes.

While we enjoy running, riding on two wheels is often preferable!

So, we thought, why not get the cycle community involved as well.

The target was set at £1000 and within 2 weeks that has been achieved.

Cycle for Carers target achieved

The response has been fantastic and far reaching. We have had donations from as far as Abu Dhabi and San Fran Francisco! It was also great to have those shielded at home involved by jumping on a turbo and getting their daily exercise in, all while raising money.

We really are all in this together, so thank you for supporting Cycle for Carers. Please continue to enjoy cycling, while social distancing of course and if you are yet to get involved please do. It is as simple as cycling 5+ km, donating £5 and nominating 5 others to join in the fun.

Safer roads for cyclists

Data shows us that roads are actually getting safer to cycle on but perceptually it doesn't feel like that. More needs to be done by the criminal justice system to demonstrate that irresponsible or illegal driving behaviour is unacceptable.
