Accident Locus Dunbarton Road

Peter was cycling home from work one September evening. He was displaying two lights to the front and rear of his bicycle as well as reflectors on his wheels and he was wearing a high visibility jacket.

Peter was established on Thornwood Roundabout close to Dumbarton Road when an unmarked Police car failed to give way and pulled into his path.

Peter fell from his bicycle sustaining soft tissue injuries to his left thigh and calf. The injuries took eight weeks to subside. Furthermore, his bicycle was damaged beyond repair and he had to rely on public transport to get to and from work.

We intimated the claim to the insurers for the Police in October but it took until January for the Police to notify us that they would be dealing with the claim in-house and liability was admitted. We were also informed that the Police had submitted a report to the Procurator Fiscal for the driver to be charged with Careless Driving.

Within a month we were able to provide our settlement proposals to the Police and the client was delighted to accept an offer of £1980.

"I appreciate all of the time and effort you have put into the last few months and am glad to have something to show for the ordeal.”
